This employer has some fantastic equipment . They need to hire the right person due to succession planning and geographical expansion across the USA.

We are hiring an experienced Mechanic / Plant Fitter that understands Airfield construction projects. You may have experience on large scale motorway projects in UK & Ireland and posses the right transferable skills.

Examples of  civil engineering works delivered 

278,000 sq. yards of Cold-in-place recycling

256,000 SY cold-milling of bituminous pavement

55,000 SY-in of deteriorated asphalt pavement repairs

25,400 SY of full depth pavement repairs

4,000 LF of electrical ducts and 50 new AG taxiway edge lights

Place and compact approximately 57,000 tons (52,000 MT) of graded aggregate base course using a Vogele 1900-2 paver equipped with a TP-2 type screed

Produce, place and compact 37,000 tons of polymer-modified hot-mix asphalt along both sides of the runway centre keel concrete section.

This person will report into the Operations Manager & Head of Plant. You must be a team player and have the right attitude to work. Motivating , communicating clearly and enjoying work is ESSENTIAL in this POST.

 

Overview of Responsibilities 

Implement  maintenance program
Ensure machinery is in a good working order
Prepare list for maintenance and spare parts required
Responsible for stock control of equipment spares, consumables
Cleaning and maintenance of work area and applicable stores
Ensure that equipment maintenance and repairs works carried out in a safe manner
Night shift working within live airfield environment may be required

 

Your background 

  • Worked as a Mechanic handling machinery and equipment
  • Asphalt Paving Experience
  • Welding & Fabrication Experience desired
  • Full clean driving license
  • Comfortable to regularly take drugs and alcohol tests whilst on site
  • Able to pass the right security and background checks to obtain a visa

 

What is essential before applying 

  • You understand that this is a Site Based Hands on role so this can often mean 45- 60 Hrs per week depending upon workload
  • You must have a clean criminal record as achieving a VISA is the US is a long and drawn out process. Therefore honesty, reference checks and a meeting with the US consulate are all KEY.
  • You must be a UK or Irish Passport Holder due to visa requirements
  • You are comfortable with the salary and benefits provided
  • Able to start employment before Feb 2024
